The first meeting of the new school year for students, their parents and teachers is going to take place at the day of Knowledge, September 1 (this year) at 12:30 in Alūksne Art School, Ojāra Vācieša Street 2, Alūksne! I hope to see you again and have pleasant and moving meeting moments before new and important period of our creative work.

This year 12 students of Alūksne Art School: Agnese Ābeltiņa, Dace Beresņeva, Zanda Bērziņa, Elīna Grava, Linda Gusta, Dāvis Kašs, Agnese Kaulakane, Armīns Rēdelis, Evija Rubene, Laura Sabīne Taurmane, Rolands Vasiļjevs and Līna Vika are graduated from school and received of the certifications of Professional Art Introduction education.
Final creative works of the school graduates, school year 2015/2016
is devoted to 90th anniversary of remembrance of artist Dzidra Ezergaile. This exhibition includes both works by Dzidra Ezergaile and creative works by students of Alūksne Art School inspired by the original works of excellent graphics artist.
DZIDRA EZERGAILE (1926/04/11-2013/07/06) has graduated department of Graphics in Latvian Academy of Art in 1956. She has participated in exhibitions since 1956. She had many one-person exhibitions in Riga and other cities of Latvia. She has also she participated in the exhibitions of graphical art together with other renowned Latvian artists outside of Latvia. She is member of Association of Artists since 1962. She has worked as artistic editor of the magazine „Padomju Latvijas Sieviete” (The Woman of Soviet Latvia). Her summer seasons and retirement period was spent together with her spouse writer Vidars Balts mainly in „Sniedzes” in Alsviķi parish at Tūja located in Alūksne area. The artist has actively participated in social life of Alūksne region and had several one-person exhibitions. About 500 pieces of artist's works — graphics, bookmarks, graphics works made from plates of zinc and copper — and the portrait of the artist painted by Milda Bīrīte are included in the Art Collection of Alūksne Museum. The last resting place of the artist is in Alūksne Large graveyard.

The exhibition is opened in the exhibition hall of Alūksne Art School in Ojāra Vācieša street 2, Alūksne, from April 18 to May 25 this year.
From February 16th to March 16th the exhibition "Portraits and things" of works by pupils of grade 7 of Alūksne Art School, can be seen in Balvi Art School.
On February 26th, Kristaps Zariņš, the prorector and professor of the Art Academy of Latvia, and Linda Bērziņa and Elīna Vītola, the students of the Art Academy of Latvia, visited Alūksne Art School. They met with school’s pupils, teachers and parent’s representatives to talk about art education and the process of creating works of art in the context of the exhibition "The East is too far in the West." Thanks to artists for interesting stories, nice meeting moments and the opportunity to enjoy their creative achievements in the exhibition hall of the school.
